Sales Manager

Collaborate with executives and managing partners to implement the sales and marketing strategy to develop a presence and increase Benefit Electric’s share in market place. Organize and manage controls to recruit, train, and supervise sales staff (Account Managers). Establish and maintain CRM system. Establish and maintain a channel sales system and channel managers.

Duties include direct sales, customer service, cold calling, pitching the business to a group, and implement the Benefit Electric fundraising program in each new client’s environment, initiate and follow up on sales process to gain new clients, document detailed project specifications, collect competitive intelligence information, identify and forward opportunities (Lead generation) to the appropriate account manager. Maintain knowledge on all applicable pricing and value added products and services.

Direct Sales Functions - Residential Market

  • Develop client network by selling to membership based organizations.
  • Make outbound client phone calls based on sales campaigns and assigned client lists.
  • Sales campaigns may include - Attending trade conventions and meetings, acquisition of new clients through direct sales, renewal of current contracted clients.
  • Contact the prospect, present the sales pitch, overcome objectives, compare offers and close the client.
  • Take and act on inbound calls from future clients who wish to obtain competitive electric offers from Benefit Electric and our power partners.
  • Collect or verify the client contact, and service address information.
  • Educate clients on the benefits of the Benefit Electric fundraising opportunity and our partnership with Champion Energy Services.
  • Update sales opportunity information for future clients.
  • Provide future clients with the appropriate documentation allowing for the collection of data to switch electrical service to Benefit Electrics power partner and obtain credit information.
  • Initiate and follow up on sales process and assist with resolving barriers to generating new clients.
  • Complete all appropriate documentation and activities for clients who accept Benefit Electrics opportunity.
  • Follow up as appropriate with prospects who do not accept the opportunity.
  • Prepare opportunities for future prospects
  • Perform campaigns on time and with desired results.
  • Review information for accuracy and update client contact, billing and data in CRM system.
  • Maintain knowledge on all applicable pricing and value added products and services.
  • Maintain an ability to vary sales approach and present different sales pitches depending upon market conditions.
  • Account Management - Serve as the liaison between Benefit Electric, our power partners, and residential clients. Serve as a liaison between assigned clients and other team members to provide timely and complete resolution to inquiries and issues.

Direct Sales Functions - Commercial Market

  • Negotiate and close profitable energy transactions that meet or exceed company profit goals.

  • Obtain LOA and prepare cost estimates, initiate and process contracts for commercial clients.

  • Provide prospective customers with the appropriate documentation allowing for the collection of credit information and obtain and process LOA to collect electric usage history.

  • Act as liaison between client and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve problems.

  • Promote and design the establishment of business-to-business service levels to build loyalty and retain profitable clients.

  • Collect or verify the client contact, business profile and service point information.

  • Update sales opportunity information for prospective customers.

  • Contact the prospect, present the sales pitch, overcome objectives, compare offers and close the client.

  • Initiate and follow up on the pricing process and assist with resolving barriers to generating a price.

  • Review the completed pricing model; select the appropriate pricing that protects the contribution margin for the book of business.

  • Review the client’s usage / profile to ensure pricing accuracy

  • Present the pricing model to the prospect and close the sale on that book of business.

  • Present pricing model agreements to the client.

  • Complete all appropriate documentation and activities for clients who accept the pricing models.

  • Follow up as appropriate with prospects who do not accept the pricing model.

  • Prepare opportunities for future prospects

  • Review information for accuracy and update client contact, billing and company data in CRM system.

  • Maintain knowledge on all applicable pricing and value added products and services.

  • Maintain an ability to vary sales approach and present different sales pitches depending upon market conditions.

  • Maintain regular contact with business clients as appropriate.

  • Account Management - Serve as the liaison between Benefit Electric, our power partners, and commercial clients. Serve as a liaison between assigned clients and other team members to provide timely and complete resolution to inquiries and issues.

Education Requirements

The minimum education requirements are:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or experience equivalent)
  • 5+ years of experience with a sales organization or an electricity organization with specific preference on operations, marketing, and customer service. (Additional experience may substitute for educational requirements.)

The minimum experience requirements are:

  • 5 + years work related experience
  • 2+ year’s sales experience
  • Knowledge of the electricity industry and competitive retail electric markets is a plus.
  • Customer service/customer operations experience
